2022 Award Winner: Mindy Guillory BSN, COHN-S/CM, MRO-a
2022: Mindy Guillory BSN, COHN-S/CM, MRO-a
Mindy serves as a member of the VFW Auxiliary and coordinates local fundraising events (she also won a national VFW award for her Veteran’s Day events at her children's elementary school). Her passion in life is her family and her daughters. Second-to-none. However, coming in second is Mindy’s devotion to the American workforce and Occupational Medicine.
Mindy earned her certification as a COHN-S/CM from the University of North Carolina in 2011 but has long been committed to occupational health. Since her time as an undergraduate nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh caring for coal miners with occupational lung disorders, Mindy knew she was bound to serve in many capacities. She interned at NIOSH developing her zeal for occupational medicine. She served honorably as a US Navy Nurse Corps Officer and lead the nursing department for the Marine Corps Medical Rehabilitation Platoon at Camp Lejeune. She then successfully transitioned those skills to a COHN-S and served as an Occupational Health Nurse at Bayer Pharmaceuticals for 5 years. After taking time off to start her family, Mindy reentered the workforce as the lone nurse at CNS, helping to build their Occupational Medicine department from the ground up and launching a group that now serves clients on-site occupational medicine needs along the entire Eastern Seaboard.
In 2020, Mindy helped guide the policy and procedure adoption, vaccine administration training, and compliance development for CNS Occupational Medicine as it launched only the second mass COVID vaccine distribution site in Pennsylvania (PA). Helping to deliver of 50,000 vaccines was no small task for a nurse, and company, not affiliated with a hospital system. Bringing temperature screening, COVID testing, and eventually vaccines to central PA businesses and their employees was instrumental, daunting, and had an extensive reach to many communities.
As a COHN-S Mindy is considered the subject matter expert for most topics within her organization. She regularly sits in on initial client calls to help them understand OSHA requirements and provides guidance on helping them comply. Her ability to deliver her knowledge to an employer, employee, or lay person is second to none and is an invaluable asset that her clients love.
As a certified CAOHC course director for Occupational Hearing Conservation, COHN-S, former treasurer of her PA Chapter of Occupational Health Nurses, and lead RN, Mindy exemplifies leadership at every level and has guided CNS Occupational Medicine from a small clinic used only for DOT physicals, to a brand that serves occupational medicine needs to the entire Eastern seaboard.
